When a clot develops in a deep vein, this is referred to as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). DVT is typically found in the deep veins of the legs but can also develop in other areas of the body such as pelvis or arms. Like any blood clot, DVT can cause discomfort, pain, or worse. If undiagnosed and untreated, DVT can lead to serious complications including Pulmonary Embolism (PE), which can sometimes be fatal.
